The Red Feather: A series of 3 programs
A Tradition Begins:
A red feather on the tree became a symbol of Gods provision during Christmas 1946. Pastor Tom Elliff recalls how his mother placed a red feather from her hat onto their Christmas tree during that lean time following the war. From that Christmas on, the tree wasnt complete until the feather occupied a place of honor among the boughs.
A Broken Feather; Broken Promises: Tom was tempted to retire the red Christmas feather when his father left his mother in 1981. After his parents divorced, his bitterness tempted him to retire the red feather the following Christmas, but the old feather remained, standing watch on the tree as in happier times.
Celebrating the Real Beauty of Forgiveness: The red Christmas feather became a symbol of Gods extravagant love and forgiveness when Tom placed a new red feather on the tree after his mothers death. Hear Tom recount his mothers parting lesson on forgiveness she left with her family.
